  • Question: What is Acupuncture?
Answer: Acupuncture is a complex branch of ancient traditional medicine with a history over 5,000 years. This medicine focuses on correcting imbalances that cause pain and illness by restoring harmony and increased energy flow to each meridian within the body. There are fourteen major energy channels called meridians that course through the human body including the head, arms, hand, legs, feet, torso, and internal organs. There are over 360 points that provide energy flow to those meridians. The energy flow is called Chi or Qi (pronounced chee) and this energy circulates via meridians to all parts of the body, including the most remote cells.
  • Question: What are the main objectives of Acupuncture Treatment?
Answer: The main objectives are three: Relieve pain and other symptoms. Strengthen the immune system. Balance, harmonize, and integrate functions of organs with each other, making for a unified, healthy person, rather than a collection of fragmented, disharmonious parts.
  • Question: What are needle treatments like? Are they painful?
Answer: Patients who have been inoculated or received medical injections are fearful that acupuncture treatments will be as painful. However, this is not the case. Typically, the acupuncture needles are fine and flexible, no bigger around than a human hair or piece of thread. The needle is inserted into an acupoint by a skilled ad licensed acupuncturist. The slender needle produces little to no sensation at all. When the needle makes contacts with Chi, the energy, most patients experience is a slight tingling sensation. First time patients are often amazed at how comfortable they feel during treatment.
